Akjoujt, the capital of the Inchiri Region, witnessed a significant developmental event today, Thursday, when His Excellency President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, laid the foundation stone for the new regional hospital—the first of its kind in the region. This initiative forms part of the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of national independence.
The President listened to a detailed technical briefing on the hospital’s various wings, its capacity, and equipment before unveiling the commemorative plaque for this vital healthcare facility.
In her address, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and Territorial Development, Naha mint Hamdi Ould Meknass, stated that the Akjoujt regional hospital project falls under the emergency program to universalize access to basic development services at the local level. Classified as H1 category with 80 beds, it adheres to international technical standards for healthcare facilities and includes all medical departments.
She added that the facility will be equipped with the latest technologies, including an electricity network and advanced management systems, to deliver high-quality healthcare services to citizens.
