The First Lady, Mariem Fadel Dah, in the Atar district, oversaw the launch of a program to fund 326 projects supporting local food security with a budget of 100 million old Ouguiya, and she inaugurated an exhibition of women’s agricultural products. These efforts aim to enhance resilience to climate change and economically empower Mauritanian women. The Minister of Social Work emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing social work and empowering women, noting the National Agency for Solidarity’s funding of projects worth 33.8 million old Ouguiya. The Mayor of Atar Municipality welcomed these developmental initiatives, highlighting the priority given to vulnerable groups in President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani’s program. Furthermore, a branch of the Training and Social Promotion Center for Children with Disabilities was inaugurated, along with an expansion of the Women’s Empowerment Training Center. This includes launching specialized workshops in confectionery and dairy processing and expanding the sewing workshop to meet the state’s needs for school uniforms and support women’s economic empowerment through vocational training and facilitating their access to the job market. The ceremony was attended by several important figures and representatives of the administrative and security authorities, reflecting broad support for these initiatives.
