Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday evening ordered the Israeli army to carry out “immediate and powerful strikes” on the Gaza Strip following an emergency security consultation, accusing Hamas of violating the cease-fire agreement.
In a brief statement, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said Netanyahu instructed the military to “launch strong strikes on Gaza immediately” after Hamas handed over human remains that do not belong to any of the missing Israeli hostages, according to Tel Aviv.
For its part, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the truce, explaining that the process of identifying remains is hindered by the lack of adequate forensic equipment.
This escalation comes as Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan faces its first major test, with growing fears that repeated Israeli violations could undermine the entire initiative.
The world now watches Washington’s response to Israel’s decision to resume the war, amid mounting international concern over the humanitarian consequences of renewed fighting in the besieged Gaza Strip.
